Amita's Gurus

Vid. Shubhada Pavgi, a noted Hindustani classical vocalist and music critic, received her initial training under the tutelage of Pt. Gajananbuwa Joshi. She further learnt under Vid. Shubhada Paradkar and Padmashree Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar. Vid. Shubhada Pavgi played a significant role; as a mother and guru; in shaping Amita's musical career. Amita started learning from Shubhada ji at the age of 4. For the next 14 years, under her guidance, Amita deepened her understanding of raag structure and presentation and completed her Sangeet Visharad.

After completing Sangeet Visharad at the age of 18, Amita took taleem from Pt. Sharad Sathe for 25 years. Pt. Sharad Sathe was a distinguished exponent of the Gwalior Gharana. His musical journey began under the tutelage of Pt. D.V. Paluskar. He further refined his art under the guidance of Pt. Sharadchandra Arolkar. Panditji's style was characterized by meticulously structured alap, precise enunciation, and graceful yet powerful taans, reflecting his deep understanding and personal interpretation of the gharana's traditional framework.

Padmashree Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar has been a source of guidance in Amita's music career. She has imbibed elements of Pandit ji's singing and his value systems through his periodic mentorship.
